Again, sorry about the lost thread, as I've just subscribed.

I read Al's question about backup dhcp hosts, and Simon noted that the
best defence against a single host failure is a long lease.

I have the following main config:

    dhcp-range=alien,10.0.0.226,10.0.0.245,4h
    dhcp-range=friend,10.0.0.75,10.0.0.225,24h

and lost of entries along the following lines:

    dhcp-host=00:03:93:C5:F1:C4,alexy,10.0.0.80 # (in the friend range!)

However the clients (Macintosh OSX and OS9) appear to renew their leases
2 hourly.
