And strike me down if 10 minutes after I send this it all decides to start
working.

Sorry about that :(

Subject: [Dnsmasq-discuss] New machine not showing in DNS
Sensitivity: Private

Hi,

I run dnsmasq 2.31-1 on Debian unstable and haven't had a problem with
machines showing in local DNS before.

I have the gateway machine, which runs dnsmasq and has eth0 for the internal
network and eth1 for the internet connection. I then have 2 Windows
machines on the network, which registered themselves OK using DHCP and I can
do name resolution of the machine names from either of the other machines,
or from the gateway, with no problems.

Over the weekend I added another machine to the network - a Sun Ultra 5
which I've loaded Debian unstable onto, and which was able to get an IP
address from dnsmasq no problems.

I am unable to resolve the name of this machine from either my gateway
machine or either of my Windows machines. I added the name of the machine
to /etc/hosts on the gateway, and I can now resolve the name of the machine
from the gateway, but not from either of the Windows machines - I've
restarted dnsmasq on the gateway since adding the machine to the hosts file.

Is there any switches I can set to see what's happening and why this machine
isn't registering correctly in dnsmasq and it isn't able to resolove the
machine name for other clients?

Many thanks

Kevin Fullerton
