[Dnsmasq-discuss] question on dnsmasq capability...trying to do something maybe a bit unusual

Hi all,

I'd appreciate it if you cc me on replies, I'm not subscribed to the list.

Thanks for writing dnsmasq, it's very useful. However, I've run into a
minor snag. I'm looking for a way to tell dnsmasq the following:

the specific host "company.com" should go to nameserver X
names of the form "x.company.com" should go to nameserver Y

Is there any way to do this?

The reason I want to do this is that the names of the form
"x.company.com" are private and only accessible via a VPN using a
private nameserver. However, the name "company.com" resolves fine using
regular public DNS, and is the public corporate website.

Basically, it would be nice if "company.com" continued to resolve with
the VPN connection disabled.

Thanks,

Chris Friesen

PS. The list information webpage didn't have anything about it being a
subscribers-only list so my first attempt to send this message came back
as rejected. You might want to add something there to minimize confusion.
