hello dnsmasq users/developers
I have the following hardware setting in my local LAN:
- domain: foo.net
- a Linksys WRT54GL (dd-wrt) using dnsmasq as dhcp- and dns-server
- an iMac getting network settings via dhcp (dnsmasq on WRT54GL)
- a MacBook getting network settings via dhcp (dnsmasq on WRT54GL)
- a QNAP TS-119 getting network settings via dhcp (dnsmasq on
WRT54GL)
- a QNAP TS-110 getting network settings via dhcp (dnsmasq on
WRT54GL)
Dnsmasq assign IP's in relation to the mac-address. And I can
connect to computers and the QNAP's using FQDN (imac.foo.net,
mbook.foo.net, ts110.foo.net, ts119.foo.net).
Now I try to set up three different vhosts on the QNAP TS-110, an I
have in mind to use for all vhosts port 80 and to find them using
FQDN. The QNAP GUI (Firmware 3.4) allows to create vhosts, but I
couldn't find these vhosts using FQDN's (website1.foo.net,
website2.foo.net, ...).
Therefore I will use dnsmasq as a dns-server on the QNAP TS-110 to
resolve the website domains (websiteX.foo.net). I installed dnsmasq
on the TS-110 (ipkg).
Now my question: How do I have to configure dnsmasq on the TS-110.
I found some information about addn-hosts an a separate dnsmasq-
host file.
A) Can I put the same IP address for different vhosts?
B) Do I have to say dnsmasq on WRT54GL that QNAP TS-110 has it's
own dns-server?
C) How can I make sure, that dnsmasq on the QNAP doesn't bother
dnsmasq on the WRT54GL?
Any help would appreciated!
Kind regards, Roland
