[Dnsmasq-discuss] Question about DNS request refused when using the 'host' command on RHEL 5

Hi,

Am a newbie with dnsmasq, but it looks like a very useful piece of
software.
I know that this is probably a bone-headed question.. but I set it up on
a private non-internet accessible RHEL 5.10 'host' on a private
non-internet accessible
network.

Some programs like 'dig' and 'nslookup' work find.. others like hosts
receive an answer to
it's first query but fail on the second and third... Here is an example:

[root at Joes_Computer ~]# host -d -v Johns_Computer

Trying "Johns_Computer at bogusnet.com"

Trying "Johns_Computer"

;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 54271

;; flags: qr aa rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0

;; QUESTION SECTION:

;Johns_Computer. IN A

;; ANSWER SECTION:

Johns_Computer. 0 IN A 10.72.253.77

Received 47 bytes from 10.72.253.25#53 in 0 ms

Trying "Johns_Computer"

Host Johns_Computer not found: 5(REFUSED)

Received 31 bytes from 10.72.253.25#53 in 0 ms

Trying "Johns_Computer"

Host Johns_Computer not found: 5(REFUSED)

Received 31 bytes from 10.72.253.25#53 in 0 ms

Programs like ssh are breaking... here is an example:

[root at Joes_Computer ~]# ssh Ringos_Computer

ssh: Ringos_Computer: Temporary failure in name resolution

I am not even sure where to start with this one... Help is very much
appreciated!
