While that is true, it is irrelevant, as I am not specifying a port, nor am I attempting to do so.

What I am specifying is the outgoing interface, through which 1.1.1.1 is reachable perfectly fine (to answer Geert Stappers's comment).

Yes they do, but again, that is irrelevant as no packets are being sent to the upstream server.
