This stuff is way out of my area, I'm afraid. The following information
might be useful (or might not)
1) Dnsmasq will do DNS for 500 hosts easily. IPv6 is supported.
2) Dnsmasq doesn't support IPv6 DHCP
3) DHCP for IPv4 should work for 500 hosts provided the renewal interval
is not too short but I've not talked to anyone who has used it on a
network that big.
