Does it help if you enable dhcp-authoritative? (Your Unix-boxes may
have some old leases from another DHCP-server you have used
previously).

What if you surf to http://intranet. (with a dot at the end)? Without
the dot, your browser may consider the address to be relative to the
computer's own domain.
You may want to set a domain=xxxx to put your clients in a specific
domain. Probably with expand-hosts as well.
