In the end it's your call.

Arguments in favour: Small patch, very unlikely to break anything else.
                     Fixes mysterious behaviour.
                     The next upstream release is likely some time away.

Arguments against:   Few users affected (new functionality)
                     Easy work-around.
		     Update will cost users some time/effort.


I maintain the Debian package of dnsmasq, and I'm not making a special
release, but I will fold the patch in if I need to make a release for
any other reason.
