Tried rc5 with kernel 2.6.25.10 without using query-port and setting
it to zero without problems. It's started as root with -u user. I
don't use the capability stuff though.

I'll continue to use quey-port=0 to save something because I use
dnscache on the same machine to do the resolving. However I doubt it
makes a difference. I noticed that dnscache uses less cpu than
dnsmasq, even though its query load is much higher. The difference
seems to be in the time-stamping of logs; dnsmasq generates the
timestamps, while dnscache doesn't. For dnscache they're done by
syslog-ng, which in turn uses quite more cpu... I didn't turn off
logging in dnsmasq to test it because it's not important and not worth
losing the logs.
