[Dnsmasq-discuss] can't resolve subnet hosts

my router running dnsmasq doesn't seem to query itsself when I do a
lookup, or if it does, it ignores short hostnames.

any subnet machine can "ping oldbaz" or "ping oldbaz.aarcane.info",
but my router cannot run "ping oldbaz".  it can however run "ping
oldbaz.aarcane.info".  it's getting annoying, and I was hoping someone
might have a simple solution.
