[Dnsmasq-discuss] regex support for server directive in /etc/dnsmasq.conf ?

Hello,

I am attempting to use dnsmasq to manage an allow list for outbound Web
traffic.

I found there was a regex patch (
https://lists.thekelleys.org.uk/pipermail/dnsmasq-discuss/2013q2/007124.html)
and I also found https://github.com/lixingcong/dnsmasq-regex which is more
up to date.

I was just wondering what the background on this is, there must be a reason
this is not in the main tree?  Are there philosophical / design objections
or is it just a matter of priorities/resources or ?
