That's not correct: /etc/hosts will always override DHCP. If a DHCP host 
tries to claim a name in /etc/hosts and has a different address, it will 
be rejected and a message logged the the syslog.

The laster client overrides earlier ones. (The DHCP lease will still 
exist, but the name mapping will go.)
