Thank you for your reply, for the reply directly to you.

It was just a thought that I had, didn't think it would work, but thought to
ask.

The second issue, is that the server has difficulties to match its own IP with
its name.

For example, when running nmap -sP 192.168.0.* will return all used IP on the
network and host name if it exists. What I find strange is that the host name
of the dnsmasq server is not returned, where other dhcp clients are found.

Host 192.168.0.34 appears to be up.
Host oldserver (192.168.0.49) appears to be up.
Host carm2 (192.168.0.51) appears to be up.
Host PHIL2 (192.168.0.62) appears to be up.

This is the case when run from the dnsmasq server, and other systems on the
network.
