Hi Stephen
Congrads on finding an FR2, she will or already is a real classic.
I own a FR4 which powers an old 32 ft motor launch on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia ( actually the boat is only the medium to carry the engine around), it is such a pleasure to spend a day in the bay, in the marina she attracts no end of interest with the distinctive thump of the engine during her weekly run.
I have spent considerable time sourcing parts for this FR4 and most of the time ends at a brick wall. I think as mentioned the gentleman Peter Forbes would be the person to know. I do have an FR6 in storage I obtained in Perth Australia some time ago ( from Ebay), this engine is complete, my intention was to keep in storage and when absolutley necessary use what I can for spare parts or vice versa change out with the FR4. I found this engine after approx 4 years of searching.
I will keep you in mind while on the parts trail.
For interest sake what lubricating oil are you planning to run your FR2 on. I am using a Penrite Classic Medium SAE 40 at present in the FR4.
Regards
Ian Rogers

Hi Simon,
Thanks for the update - the manual is like new and drawings still perfect and easy to follow.
The engine was working driving a 3" Harland centrifugal pump irrigating watermelons etc near Mudgee
NSW Australia and was going it appears in summer 2006. The engine looks clean and Ill drain oils and clean filters and
check tappets and timing and fire it up.
Your engine is well travelled!!!

There's some FR parts amongst this lot:

you'll need your manual and some patience to identify them.
Sadly, I think that carriage from the UK for anything heavy will be
rather dear. I don't know if there are sources in Australia?

would seem to say no, and if anybody would know it would be Peter Forbes.
BTW my FR2M started life in a Harbour Launch at Westernport Bay,
Australia, and was found much later running a shearing machine before
being brought back to the UK and fitted in a narrowboat.
Cheers,
Simon.
